Just as every season has its own blooms, certain flowers are at their most beautiful in particular months. If you want to send flowers to someone you love — for a birthday, Mother's Day, or any special occasion — why not make it extra meaningful with their birth flower? Our flower guide tells you exactly which flower belongs to which birth month.
Below you'll find all twelve birth flowers listed by month, so you can always choose the most fitting gift or bouquet.
The tradition of birth flowers goes back a long way. For centuries, flowers have held special meaning in art, literature and everyday life. They are not only beautiful and fragrant — they also carry something mysterious and symbolic, and each has its own character. Some flowers need plenty of sun and water; others thrive even in the colder months. In this way, every month — and every star sign — has a flower that belongs to it.
Sending flowers to the people you love is always a heartfelt gesture. Whether for a birthday, Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, flowers bring joy — and even more so when they happen to be the recipient's birth flower.
The birth flower for January is the carnation, which stands for love and individuality. Those born in January are either Capricorn or Aquarius — two very different personalities, yet they share the same birth flower. The snowdrop is also associated with January, reflecting beauty and elegance.
February is an important month for flowers. If you are an Aquarius or Pisces, red roses are your birth flower. Red roses stand for love and affection — which is exactly why they are such a popular choice on Valentine's Day. You can order valentines day flowers and have them delivered straight to your loved one in Germany. The primrose is another flower perfectly suited to February, and you'll find beautiful primrose bouquets in our online shop.
March belongs to the daffodil. Daffodils symbolise an unquenchable love of self, which makes them a natural fit for Pisces and Aries. This cheerful bloom also represents new beginnings and courage. It is the flower of everyone born in March and is often called the flower of spring.
The birth flower for April is the daisy. Its delicate petals symbolise eternal youth, purity and innocence. The daisy also stands for tenderness, happiness and the ability to enjoy life. Whether Aries or Taurus, the daisy reflects both personalities in a uniquely fitting way.
As the name of the month hints, May has its very own flower: the lily of the valley. It is the birth flower of Taurus and Gemini, symbolising chaste love and humility, as well as purity and modesty. Fresh and youthful, it is simply the perfect flower for those born in May.
June is the month of the tulip, with red being the preferred colour — a shade that stands for deep affection and love. Its meaning is close to that of the red rose, which is also a popular choice for June birthdays. Red tulips carry an additional meaning: emotional closeness. If you want to surprise someone with a June birthday, order tulips and send them straight to their door.
Those born in July — Cancer or Leo — can choose between two beautiful birth flowers. The larkspur belongs to the buttercup family and symbolises a deep bond in love, as well as good health, a carefree spirit and a generous heart. The lily is also a July birth flower, most loved in pink. Known as the queen of flowers, it represents light and hope.
The gladiolus is the classic summer flower, and so it has been assigned to August. It embodies honesty, beauty and a strong character. One of the great things about gladioli is that they come in a wonderful range of colours, making a vibrant mixed bouquet a particularly lovely birthday gift. With Regionsflorist you can order birthday flowers and send them to your loved ones with ease.
People born in September are often associated with wisdom, trust and courage — and the aster reflects all of these qualities. This beautiful flower blooms from late summer well into autumn, making it a wonderful birthday gift for Virgo and Libra.
October's birth flower is the marigold. It symbolises warmth, wisdom and compassion, and is also a symbol of vitality.
